My background is motorsports, so it’s fitting that our cover star this month is Steve McQueen’s very own Porsche 917K used in the filming of Le Mans, renowned as one of the greatest auto racing movies ever made. The ‘king of cool’ certainly was a skilled wheelman, and although he was forbidden from taking part in the 24-hour race itself, he drove this car during post-event filming to create a true classic of the genre.
