After 40 years, duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars capture moments in automotive history.
This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.
Looking back at duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars from the year 1993, some serious nostalgia is stirred up for any automotive enthusiast, and each year, a cover car shows an iconic moment of the past, when a car we see as a classic today was the hottest new creation on the market. January – Chevrolet Camaro
Starting off the year, the Chevrolet Camaro was the star of duPont REGISTRY’s January 1993 cover, comparing the original with the then-contemporary generation of the muscle car icon, at both ends of the F-platform’s life cycle.
February – Lincoln Town Car, Harley Davidson Sportster
At the dawn of the Clinton era, duPont REGISTRY’s February 1993 cover was a presidential display, with a white Lincoln Town Car carrying two Harley Davidson Sportsters on the back, one for President Bill Clinton, and one for Vice President Al Gore.
March – CheZoom, Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB, Mercury “Woody”
In March 1993, duPont REGISTRY’s cover featured three cars, each quite different from the others. However, a common theme of California tied them, a custom classic, a classic Ferrari spider, and a wood-paneled station wagon, together.
April – Gemballa Cyrrus
Vanilla Ice, a talked-about artist at the time in April 1993 and still today, is known for his unique car collection. One of those cars was a Gemballa Cyrus, which starred on duPont REGISTRY’s April 1993 cover.
May – Ferrari 250 GTO
May 1993’s duPont REGISTRY cover featured one of Ferrari’s most legendary collector-grade cars of all time, the 250 GTO, in a stunning blue and yellow livery.
June – Shelby Cobra
In June, an icon of American muscle car history starred on the duPont REGISTRY cover, and that was the legendary Shelby Cobra, a car that is still incredibly celebrated and influential today.
July – Lister Corvette
Rather than an OEM Corvette, customization specialist Lister starred on our July 1993 cover, with its take on the Chevrolet Corvette.
August – Ferrari 348 Spider
The iconic Ferrari 348 Spider showed off its open-top excellence on duPont REGISTRY’s August 1993 cover.
September – 100 duPont REGISTRY Covers
September 1993 marked our 100th issue, and with that came a special cover, highlighting all the covers of the past.
October – BMW 3 Series Convertible, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Lamborghini Diablo
Three cars featured on duPont REGISTRY’s cover in October 1993. These were a BMW 3 Series Convertible, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans, and one of the most prominent supercars of its time, the Lamborghini Diablo.
November – Callaway Speedster
When it comes to revolutionizing the performance potential of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette, Callaway’s Speedster was the November 1993 duPont REGISTRY cover star.
December – Porsche 935 dP
Yet another Porsche features as the December cover star of duPont REGISTRY in 1993, a 935 dP in particular.
