For decades, Cadillac proudly wore the title “Standard of the World.” But as the ultra-luxury automotive segment became increasingly European-dominated, American contenders like the Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, while impressive, couldn’t quite match their overseas rivals. That changes now—with the arrival of the 2025 Cadillac Celestiq, a bold, all-electric flagship designed to redefine American luxury.
A Long Road to the Top
Cadillac’s journey to reclaim its place atop the luxury ladder has been decades in the making. From early concepts like the V16-powered Sixteen (2003), to the open-top Ciel (2011), the sleek Elmiraj (2013), and the sophisticated Escala (2016), the brand has long flirted with the idea of a true halo car. But none of these ever reached production—until now.
The 2025 Celestiq marks a turning point. Revealed as a show car in 2022 and greenlit shortly after, it embodies Cadillac’s vision for the future: electric, extravagant, and exquisitely crafted.
A Monumental Presence
Seeing the Celestiq in person is an experience in itself. With proportions even more imposing than a Rolls-Royce Ghost—and wider than a Bentley Flying Spur—it commands attention. Built on GM’s bespoke Ultium platform, the Celestiq shares its 23-inch wheels with the Escalade IQ, reinforcing its commanding road presence.
Its fastback silhouette sets it apart from typical luxury sedans, and the body features cutting-edge materials like carbon fiber panels and SMC composites to support sensor-based door automation.
Precision Craftsmanship
Beneath its sculpted exterior, the Celestiq’s chassis is formed from six large aluminum castings for rigidity, complemented by 115 3D-printed parts. GM even 3D-printed the metal steering wheel—the largest such component it has produced to date. Other intricate shapes are created using “Flex Fabrication,” a process of folding metal over itself.
Inside: Bespoke Luxury
Step inside, and you’ll find a cabin that rivals the finest in the world. Nearly every surface is swathed in premium leather or bright metal, with minimal plastic in sight. The driver and passengers are treated to captain’s chairs with massage, heating, and cooling features. Nearly everything in the interior is customizable.
Tech abounds, led by a massive 55-inch pillar-to-pillar digital display, supplemented by twin rear-seat screens. There’s also a dual touchscreen system for in-cabin adjustments. While it’s innovative, the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a glaring omission in a segment that values user flexibility.
Acoustic and Driving Excellence
The Celestiq’s 42-speaker AKG audio system surrounds occupants in immersive sound, with 38 speakers dedicated to the cabin alone. Active noise canceling and a smart glass roof contribute to a serene interior experience.
On the road, the Celestiq is a marvel of engineering. Powered by dual motors delivering 655 hp and 646 lb-ft of torque, it rockets to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds—despite weighing over 6,000 pounds. But it’s not all about speed; Cadillac has prioritized smoothness and grace.
Its agility is surprising, thanks to rear-axle steering and a 48-volt active anti-roll system. GM’s signature Magnetic Ride Dampers and air suspension deliver a ride that’s simultaneously plush and performance-ready.
Range and Charging Trade-Offs
While its 111-kWh battery provides a solid estimated range of 303 miles, the Celestiq still relies on a 400-volt charging system, capping fast-charging at 190 kW. That’s a step behind competitors like the Lucid Air or Porsche Taycan, which offer faster 800-volt systems.
Tailored Ownership
Starting at $350,000, the Celestiq is all-inclusive—buyers only pay for customization. At Cadillac House in Warren, Michigan, clients work with a concierge to design their car. No two Celestiqs will be alike, and production will be extremely limited—fewer than two units per day.
The Verdict
The Cadillac Celestiq is more than a car—it’s a statement. With its dramatic design, innovative engineering, and personalized luxury, it positions Cadillac firmly back in the ultra-luxury conversation. While not without drawbacks—chiefly its charging limitations and lack of smartphone integration—the Celestiq proves that American luxury can once again lead the world.
